Save the Day -- A Poem by Andy Varlow

Save the Day - A Poem by Andy Varlow

When a dude turns fertilizer
by th’ almighty equalizer,
friends an’ phonies ’ttend the wake
yawnin’, while th’ eulogizer
claims “The loss is a heartbreak.”

Since my term rollin’ in clover
ain’t too long before it’s over
I’ve been thinkin’, “Hey, why wait for my wake?
Ask our pals to come right over,
share some booze and a crabcake.”

Barring reasons unforeseen,
this cynical old Hellene,
ain’t floatin’ in God’s latrine,
says Andy “Save September the fifteen
an’ plan t’ attend a gala scene.”
