I Accuse the Church and the State God is not the truth- the Truth is god Just Another Man A Story of the Nazi Massacre of Kalavyrta Bedtime Stories
Andy's Other Writings ... An Excerpt From: "A Spin Through Mount Athos" A whisper tickles my ear. Our group slides out into the crack of dawn. We head across the courtyard to the museum. The Abbot and three monks are expecting us. After gracious greetings his Holiness gives a nod. The monks take turns unbolting strong locks on a primeval door. The elder of the three, the curator, allows us into a musty space divided into two rooms. Rows of old priceless manuscripts, icons, crosses chased in gold and silver, staffs and official costumes of emperors and ecclesiastical dignitaries ornamented with sapphires and rubies lay in glass cases there before our dumbfounded eyes. Georgie the tycoon is so impressed by it all, he hands the Abbot a donation, a check for one thousand clams. Our ride is waiting. On a single-file formation, like a squad returning from a reconnaissance mission, one by one we climb inside the tractor. First our leader Fanis the executive, then Georgie the tycoon, George the dentist, John the capitalist, Kenny the dentist, Steve the jeweler, and finally me, Andy the clown. The Abbot and monks are waving good-bye. We pat our satchels stuffed with our own private memories of a humble place where, as the story goes, the ephemeral world is renounced, and through poverty, chastity, and obedience to God, one attains the key to Heaven the Eternal. Our vehicle starts to roll. The boys and I sing out, “Hallelujah, brothers!” ------------------------------- Page 1 | 2 |
